Meet the Gardens Managers

Updated: Aug 23, 2021

Here are a few things you may not know about Greg and Shannon Beacham, Co-Owners of LABWELL, and your Wellness Garden Community Managers.

Whenever we meet new people and those that have known us for some time, three things immediately come up. One. We are vegan. Two. We homeschool our three children. And three, we love to garden. All of this is true, and we love sharing these aspects of our lives but let's dive a little deeper.

"You gotta dig a little deeper Find out who you are You gotta dig a little deeper It really ain't that far." -Mama Odie, Princess and The Frog

Another way to get to know us better is to join our Wellness Garden community, listen to the LABWELL podcast, and follow us on Instagram.

Friends Since Middle School

Did you know we met each other as friends in middle school? For military kids, it's a big deal to know someone outside of the family for that length of time. We both lived in Virginia for a brief time, but Greg moved to Maryland not long after our middle school ended. We kept in touch through AIM (AOL Instant Messenger, if you don't know) and email- wild, right? Until one day, we met randomly, and it was love at first sight.

It was a chance meeting at Six Flags America. Greg was working. And for me, it was our end-of-band camp trip. We only saw each other for a brief moment, but that was all we needed. When I got home, Greg had already slid into my DMs (Ok, he emailed me) for my phone number. We talked every day from that day on.

Environmentalists

We are serious about our efforts to be kind to the planet we call home. In our daily lives, we do many little things that we hope surely add up. Those things include choosing to live vegan, recycling, reusing and giving old items new lives, being conscious of what and how much we are bringing into our home, and lowering our carbon footprint. It can be overwhelming at times, but we know that it is not only up to us.

We share how more prominent companies can significantly impact our environment more than our family or community combined.

Anime Blerds

Meanwhile, we have a long list of favorite anime shows and movies. Before Netflix & Chill, we would binge-watch DVDs of Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, and Boondocks. Eventually, Greg got me

to watch his favorite childhood show of Outlaw Star. And I introduced him to my favorite animator Miyazaki who produced shows like Kiki's Delivery Service, Totoro, and Ponyo. He definitely got extra points in my book for already knowing about Princess Mononoke.

Marijuana Advocates

We spend a lot of time in our garden, and we have a very close relationship with many herbs. So maybe this isn't too much of a surprise. It's about time Cannabis Sativa gets the attention it deserves as a traditional and cultural herb and medicinal plant.

With this herb's impact on the black community, even if you don't partake, you can surely understand the need for advocacy, decriminalization, and being part of a quickly rising legal cannabis industry.

Outdoor Enthusiasts

We find that hiking and gardening have been the gateway to wanting to do more outdoor activities. You can find us getting more involved with outdoor activities like camping and kayaking. It's been fun to do as a family. We are showing our children what it's like to be an adult and trying something new. And we are growing together.

Gamers For Life

When we are indoors, and we have free time- it's game on. "Life" and "What The Meme" are entertaining family games, but we have a soft spot for turning on the Playstation and having some screen time. We even have our streaming channel where you can find Greg playing Apex or the kids on Minecraft.

I enjoy playing SIMs and not being on camera.

Book Club

The two of us knew we wanted a house full of children and a house full of books. Only one of us also wanted a house full of cats, so one cat it is. We have books in our home library from so many stages in our lives, childhood, college, and so on.

We love raising avid readers and being examples to our children of just how much fun and helpful books can be. While there is never really such thing as too many books, we definitely have too many books.

Community Matters to Us

Shifting through different phases of our life, we have found one thing that holds- community adds value to our lives! For so long in our journey, we had people to care for us when we didn't have what we needed, when we needed an extra hand, showing us the way and helping us see our light. We want to be there for others in this same way. We stand as guides and mentors to those ready to make changes in their lives for better health and daily steps in wellness. When we say join us, we mean for you to be part of our family. Connect with us in the LABWELL Wellness Garden Community. Enhance your health in our group coaching programs. We will challenge you and love you. Follow us on Instagram for daily wellness tips and small steps you can be taking right now.
